solder flux to potentiometers?

how many of you guys put flux on the tops of pots to get solder to stick to them better?

I use flux anytime I solder.

btw - Just for the record, flux is simply pine tar. Its a slightly thicker version of your mom's Pine-Sol. Its only function is to clean the surfaces of impurities. Its by virtue of that, that solder "flows" better.

Heat, makes it "stick" better.

I do, but i use to everytime i solder anything together, even the plumbing of my parents new bathroom i am redoing.

Never. I do sand the top of the pot a little if I'm going to use it to attach a bunch of ground wires to, as in a Strat...or when I bend the #3 terminal over and solder it to the top edge of the pot as you'd do for a volume control.

I sand the surface a little but no flux other than the flux that's already in the solder.

I just scrape the spot. I use flux core solder without any additional flux for electrical work, never had a problem.

I am with Lew on this one. I have never needed flux to make solder stick like a champion. Sanding is a must though.
