Soldering 101

Re: Soldering 101

Also, I’m not sure what gloves you’re wearing but I can’t see at all that they could be helping the cause. If anything gloves would only get in the way and make things harder.

Wearing latex gloves--they fit like 2nd skin and keep grease and other particles off of the solder, posts, etc. I am following the advice of the dude in the videos that were posted earlier in the thread. Still working through em, so I may wind up wearing a face shield and parachute pants (my fellow mid 40's folks will laugh at that image).

Re: Soldering 101

What size wire are you using?

Being able to solder quickly is what the flux is for.

I will take some pics tomorrow and see if that helps.

I ordered some wire that another forum member suggested, 22AWG. Here's the amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017CNNPJK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the 4 wire shielded: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077QP9PZH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If those are not ideal, I'm certainly open to other products. It's cheap enough for me to build a good supply of things. These wires all look about the same as the wires in my guitars.

Just ordered flux.

I prefer to solder in my Z. Cavaricci jeans.
