first let me say SS amps blow big time. I voted dirty because absolutely nothing can compare with tube cleans, they're just absolutely full, warm, and gorgeous. SS cleans sound so tinny, and crappy. I currently own a SS, its not bad, i can still get some half decent tones out of it. But everytime i play a tube amp i am blown away. If only i had some money, i'd definately being going tube, and saying bye bye to SS forever

I like pumping my SS rack amp with a juiced high gain preamp tone from my POD Pro or JMP-1. nice tight aggresive metal tones. My SS outputs what it gets without any noise or flub. yummy.

So I guess I use my SS clean for dirty pre's giving dirty tone.

+1 clean. There is a bigger difference between tube dirty and ss dirty, but a bit less discernible clean.

But tube is still the way to go for guitar amplifiers IMO
