oh yeah, and i believe i'm correct in saying that solid state amps can run all day with no speakers plugged in, but tube amps need some sort of load, otherwise it can fry the OT. this is good if you're like me and have tons of trouble with speaker cables breaking.

Well, my H&K Edition Blue (bought it for 200 € from a sale, normal price 300 €/$450) is a decsent practise amp, with SD-1 I get great tones from plexi marshall (Deep Purple, YJM, Iron Maiden, Randy Rhoads, even Slayer-ish) to Dream Theater and Metallica. The only downside is the slight lack of dynamics with greater drive settings (I get all gain I need before 3 o'clock, usually at 1 o'clock, with SD-1 and Custom/PG pups.)
