Some acoustic slide

Re: Some acoustic slide

That was awesome! You listen to Son House don't you? I was thinking about building a slide guitar, but I'd better practice first. Very cool dude.

Thanks

Yes, I do listen to Son House (and Muddy Waters, Bukka White, Johnny Winter, and many more). I started learning that song about ten weeks ago (my first real attempt to play with fingerpicks and a thumbpick).

What I used was a cheap '70s Japanese guitar. Just as long as it projects and is fairly loud, it should be able to do slide IMO.

Re: Some acoustic slide

I've got a '72 Yamaha 12 string acoustic that has got such a bad bow in the neck, that the pawn shop turned it down. Makes a great slide guitar though. I've got it set up with six strings tuned to G. I'm gonna go grab it out of the garage now.

Yeah, open G is my favorite tuning.

Cool, well played. inspiring me to learn some slide....its harder than it looks huh!

I can't say, it's what I started with and is the only thing I can do to any degree of sucess. You should try and tell me.

Re: Some acoustic slide

Very good. The pure stuff ... Keep practicing ... I think you have the feel of it.

I bet Robert Johnson would have liked a $10 mic and free Audacity software too.

Re: Some acoustic slide

Thanks guys

I think I'm going to start a few new songs, so maybe I'll be posting those in a few weeks. Or maybe I should try to pop out a good Johnny Winter tune (I've been trying his stuff for a longer time than the old stuff)
