Some blues, in a recording mood

Well I sat down and decided I wanted to record a little guitar. I'm in a bluesy mood, cause I got a blues gig tomorrow night.

Real simple tune. One of my favorites "Got a mind to give up livin"

Tried really hard to hold back in this one as I have a tendency to over play so I wanted to really let this one flow a bit more.

Only one take (you can tell at the end because I didn't expect the way it ended). SG Special into a TS9, into my Maz 18. Volume had to be kinda low cause it's late and while normally they don't care, I didn't wanna be rude. I think I mic'd the V30 in my cab. Nothing added in the mix, at all.

Thanks rid, I appreciate it :) I'm doin what I can. Wish I got to play like that more often. It seems like all people wanna hear is the upbeat stuff, Mustang Sally, and the super fast "notes flying out my arse" kinda playing..which I can do, but I prefer to be all kinds of soulful with it ya know? take my time..hard to work on your phrasing when people don't wanna hear it :(

Soulful all the way here...allthough I also like the faster stuff, but I always remember my blues....
And this is rootsy stuff, which gets to little attention sometimes!

I love that kind of stuff ... liked the tone a lot ... some tasty riffs in there. :)

Guitar and amp were mentioned in first post, but I'll mention again. It was a Gibson SG through an Ibanez TS9 into a Dr. Z Maz 18

Just beautiful man!! Love that vibrato... My room is now dark and smokey and all of a sudden it started raining like there ain't no tomorrow...

Creates a hell of a mood ... Diggin in really nice!

listening back to it I wish I had more reverb on it, and had a bit more of a room sound to it...it's a little drier than I'd like :)

I dunno. I like it as is. You're not hiding behind anything and you're just playing. I like it myself. Tasty tone and even tastier playing. :cool2:

Thanks for the compliments guys, I really appreciate it. I've got a few originals I'm gonna be recording soon with a band so hopefully when I get those done I'll post the final cuts of them...maybe even some rough cuts. A couple of them are gonna be kinda bluesy like this one, some are more folk and folk/rock oriented (or fock as I like to call it, lol).

That's so sweet! the vibrato ,the feeling ,the fast runs ...Everything extreme smooth and nice.Congrats!

I never really noticed my vibrato til you guys said something...half the time I don't even realize I'm doing it...
