Some guitar wiring questions: blend pots

so, with a blend pot wired to 2 humbuckers, i could use it as a pickup selector? By doing this i could sort of control the volume of each pickup in relation to the other, right?

P.S. if a blend pot has an audio taper does it affect the blending of the signals like a normal pot, i.e. at "5" would it be using 100% of each pickup?

No ... If I understand what you are asking here, if you are referring to a blender pot (like the strats ... ala Lindy Fralin uses) then no 5 wouldn't be 100% of each pup, and the blender doesn't work that way to begin with, it only blends in another source). What you want is a Balance/ blender/ pan control. It's called a blender also, but it works differently. Now that is what you want here, it is simply a dual-ganged pot with one section audio and one scetion reverse audio tapered, each section's 10 position is at 5, with a center detent. That is what you are looking for, at 0 one pup is selected, at 10 the other pup at center both pups, and to either side it reduces the volume of the that pup.

Re: Some guitar wiring questions: blend pots

A follow up question, if I may : what value pots would be needed for a 2 humbucker/1 pan/1 volume/1 tone pot configuration? Thanks.

Re: Some guitar wiring questions: blend pots

The ideal would be all 1 meg pots, which would give you an effective resistance of 333k. Since you'll only be able to find a 500k blend pot, you can match that with a 1 meg volume pot, and get an effective 200k load. You'll just have to live with the rolled-off highs if you decide to go with this configuration.
