Some help with EZdrummer and Reaper...

I've been using Reaper on my PC for a few weeks now and I love it. I just got EZdrummer yesterday to use with it and I'm having a little trouble.

I make a new track to use for drums, open FX, select the EZdrummer VST, and the EZdrummer window comes up. Okay so far. I can play the drums manually (click them) and play through the grooves/loops, but when I try to drag a loop onto the new track, window pops up telling me it couldn't add the item. Am I missing something? What should I check to diagnose the problem?

Thanks guys.

Check if the track you are dragging the drum sample into is the correct type. It should be a midi track not audio.
After you have finished the drum track you can bounce it into an audio file.

In Reaper, I think any new track can be used for either MIDI or audio, but I'm not positive about that.

How do I "bounce" the drum track to an audio file?

Re: Some help with EZdrummer and Reaper...

wtf? doesnt work that way over here. i open a track and click on FX and open EZdrummer. wait for all the samples to load (little MB bar that loads up) then i click on the groove i like and then the specific groove (hi hat 16th, etc) and drag THAT onto the track with the FX on.

^ That's exactly what mine looks like, too. You just described it better than I did.

The problem is when I try to drag a specific groove into the project, it tells me "1 of 1 item was not added successfully" or something along those lines. Would it help if I made a video going through the steps? I can do it pretty quickly with my Flip camera.

yeah man, i might fall asleep before you get the video online, but ill check it out tommorow if I do. :lmao:

Re: Some help with EZdrummer and Reaper...

... file was too huge. im converting it.

i went over the settings on my copy of reaper, i think it might help out.

Re: Some help with EZdrummer and Reaper...

you're going to have to wait man, sorry. converting it ruined the size and audio.

Re: Some help with EZdrummer and Reaper...

I was going to say: after watching your vid, i've come to the conclusion that you get A WHOLE LOT more out of reaper than I do :lmao:

how did you get the tracks to be different colours? what template or whatever?

Re: Some help with EZdrummer and Reaper...

Haha, yeah, I color code them so I can tell at a glance what's lead, rhythm, bass, or whatever.

You just select the tracks, right click, and there's an option "custom color tracks" or something like that in the drop down menu.

Re: Some help with EZdrummer and Reaper...

Thanks so much for making that video, AZ. How did you make it using only a screenshot like that?

I'm going to get the video up on my recording computer tomorrow and compare our settings.

One thing though, you said you don't use MIDI, but isn't everything through EZdrummer a MIDI file? That's what it looks like on your drum track as well.
