Re: Some info on Gibson P-100 pickups that might interest you

I don't know why anyone would put an HB, stacked or side-by-side, in a P-90 slot. If you want an HB sound, use one of the thousands of guitar models that have HB's. ... P-90's that fit an HB slot: great idea! HB's that fit a P-90 slot: dud.

Sometimes it's easier, cheaper, and just plain cool to swap pickups in your guitar instead of buying a new guitar.:headbang:

Edit: Just ordered the Callisto Jr (with P-90s) from Rondo, should be here Tuesday. Can't wait!

Rajon Rondo? Wow, not only is he a great point guard, a luthier too. What a rennaissance man...

+1. It would be a sin to route out a P-90 slot for a HB, punishable by eternal damnation.

:newangel:

God loves Humbuckers- no matter what type of guitar they are put in :D

On a serious note- I've always been a fan of the routed Deluxes and Jrs-I don't know why- but someday I'm gonna grab a Historic Jr, and route that SOB! :omg:

Great choice! I just got an Epi LP Special with P-90's, and love it. Let us know about yours when you get it.

From what DLT said, my opinion is that the P100's sound nothing like P90's, and therein lies the problem.

Only if you are of the mindset that because it looks like one it should sound like one. Otherwise the description and sound of the pickup itself is phenomenal.
"capable of producing a very warm, vintage humbucking sound". "The P-100 has slightly less high frequency response than a P-90, but much more so than a conventional side-by-side humbucker, without the “midrange” hump associated with humbucking pickups. However, because of its humbucking design, it also has a fatter, warmer, and richer sound than could ever be gotten from a P-90, and it is also a “hotter” pickup as well."

I have them in an ES135 and they kill. I also have P90s and Dynasonics and Filtertrons and all of the rest but I view them all differently and I use my ears instead of my stubbornness and ignorance to judge them.
