Some more Carvin CT3M pics, and a question about pearl white.

So the Pearl White on the carvin is a lot more yellow than I expected, like an aged white. I'm not so sure I like it yet, not what I expected. But here are some more pictures so you can decide for yourself, and my old Pearl White G&L for the sake of comparison, that pearl white was more of what I expecting.

Maybe it's just me, but I dig that aged white thing your Carvin has going on :)

I think it looks cool man..

With any new guitar you've ordered and not really seen/played you should really give it a bit of time to get used to it/see if you want to keep it. That goes for appearance and playability/tone.

The only thing I'd change on that, would be not to have the neck painted.. I prefer the feel of wood instead of the paint

I agree, I love that color.

Re: Some more Carvin CT3M pics, and a question about pearl white.

I think it's kinda funny how pearl white isn't white... but cream.

Personally, I prefer white. Cream only works in very limited cases for me. I've always wanted a white Les Paul, except most of them have aged and are now cream... so me nolikes.

Anyway, the decision is yours. You have to give it time... you may end up loving it! Don't judge it harshly at the beginning. :)

yeah I think I'm going to have to let it grow on me a little. It's not bad by any means. I kind of dig how when you look down the neck or at the finish, the color changes from blues to golds and such.

I was considering that myself. It's an option to have it clear glossed or tung oiled. I kind of decided to go with the durability and uniformity of all painted. The painted finishes are thinner than the clear poly finish too.

I think it looks great. I'm a fan of both basic white and "aged" white/cream. You really scored with that one. Carvin has some truly great stuff I never knew about.

I don't think it's so much a cream color, but more that the "pearl" effect does so much with light. It's like a prism sitting between you and the finish, and it's very reactive with the light hitting it. I drove an old Chevy pickup in high school that had the same kind of paint job, it was killer. I bet if you looked at it under a really bright, clean, flourescent bulb it'd look pretty white.

Like I said, it depends on lighting.

I personally think you got a beautiful guitar there, Xeromus.
I think it's a keeper.

Those little pearl flakes reflect the light many ways.
So, it can have a yellowish, blueish, or pinkish hue.
Type of lights it's under makes a difference too.

Yeah I tend to agree, it's already growing on me. Much more depth than regular white.

My 'Pearl White with Black Bevel's' RR-1 has that same thing going on. I think you're G&L might have actually been an exception to the pearl white thing.

update: rehearsal today, cranked through my legacy half stack....yeah it's a keeper. :)

As far as the color goes, it's beautiful and forget everything I said above. It was in my room when I woke up and it looked yellow. It literally does change color under different lighting. It's the coolest damn thing.

so in short, it's everything I wanted and then some, I love it.
