Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

xntrick...Yeah I used to have a 3120 and a snake skin covered 5150. Now I have a 5150III 50w and my '79 JMP and a small 4U rack below where they hang. I'm actually about to go solder some new cables up for my board. It changed drastically just recently. Ever since I got the EVH amp I realized all the EVH pedals sound great with it so my board ended up looking very striped with all the EVH pedals on it haha.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Do you happen to remember what sort of signal chain you used with your 3120?

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

I had the 3120 since it came out until just a few weeks ago when I sold it. So my signal chain changed a TON over that time. I will say this...it was way better after I properly biased it, it was even better than that when I switched to 6L6s and properly biased them. See eurotubes site for biasing info.

It was good with 4 V30s and it was far better with an X pattern of 2 V30s and 2 H30s. I also never really used the rhythm channel at all. I was on the crunch channel 99% of the time and I'd boost it with various pedals when needed...Green Rhino, Pork Loin, Classic Overdrive, 808 clones and various other OD pedals got tried at one point or another.

Ashurbanipal...Trust me I know the deal on the neck pockets. I've routed many of them from the USA Pro-Mod Charvel line to make the Floyds dive only. I wish they would have gotten that right from the factory like the custom shop does.

It's annoying, isn't it? Thankfully on a bolt-on, you can modify it, but if it's a neck through with a pre-cut neck pitch, what a to do? Some of those new non-recessed Jacksons made for Music Zoo have this setup.

I know our good F. Falbo has modified many of his Ibanez axes in this fashion. The '86 guitars (first year of Edge) were non-recessed and the trem sometimes sit fairly high off the body.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

I like that new line TMZ did. Wish the price wasn't nuts and they came in hum/single pickup configuration or just a 1 hum setup. I'm not a fan of 24 fret guitars with neck hums. Anyway, the only things you can do with them are use a device like a treml-no or trem stopper or just a block of wood. That way it will be dive only but it still will be sitting above the body. So it will end up better but still not the same.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Oh wow, not only extremely nice guitars, but that workshop, impeccable!

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Always dug your guitars XSSIVE , but your worshop is pretty damn impressive too! :D

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

There are times I wish I snagged the red with black hardware Clone that was available several years ago. Man that guitar was gorgeous.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

jhale667...Thanks!

ErikH...That was Clone #001, the one that started it all and lead to many more.

Yup. I remember. At the time the neck dimensions were thinner than I like but I actually think I'd be fine with it. Oh well. I can always have you clone it...LOL. It'd be a clone of a Clone of a Charvel. LOL

...that is if I can afford to do so. ;) Baby on the way so moving stuff to help save up for the wife's time off.

Did you paint the sparkles yourself? That green one gives me a boner every time I look at it, and I don't even like strats.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

ErikH...Buy the guitar FOR the baby. There ya go, I just justified the purchase. Add it into baby costs with strollers, diapers, bottles, custom guitar, car seat, crib, mobile for over the crib that plays baby versions of classic rock songs (someone needs to make that)...you get the idea.

King IzzO)))...No, I didn't paint that one. Just picked the crazy chartreuse color. Marty Bell who is the king of big flake sparkle paint jobs did that one and the gold sparkle one too.

fowl2338...The relic is a 2pc alder body, nitro finish reliced by me, Charvel USA neck and neck plate, 80s Charvel brass knob and strap buttons, 80s original german floyd with big brass block and D-Tuna, Schaller tuners, Duncan C5 bridge, DiMarzio Virtual vintage Solo (or Solo pro, I actually forget haha) neck single which DiMarzio has since discontinued, 500K Bourns low friction volume pot, 3 way switch. That's about it.
