Some POD settings

I just posted a recording of some ofmy POD settings my soundclick page. Must be heard on Hi Fi. They sound best through headphones
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/therottenguitarstring_music.htm

Each tone is separated with a beeping noise in the left speaker

1. Clean tone

2. Slayer Seasons in the Abyss tone

3. Metallica - Kill Em All tone, then Santana tone with same settings but different pickup (position #2, which is two coils in parallel)

4. Metallica - Ride the Lightning tone, then some old Slayer with same settings

5. Metallica - Master of Puppets tone

6. Metallica - And Justice for All tone

7. Steve Vai tone

Tell me what you think of these, and if any further tweaking is needed

Re: Some POD settings

I think there's too much delay/reverb on your tones, otherwise they're quite nice. Perhaps just a little bit of extra highs and grittiness as well.

The seasons and RTL sounded quite good. The playing in Raining Blood sounded a bit odd, but the sound was quite close. The MOP tone was very good. Justice didn't sound quite as scooped as Metallica does. I haven't listened to Vai that much to say anything about it.

A little bit of finetuning, and you've quite got them. Makes me want to do the same when I get my PODxt back!

Re: Some POD settings

Thanks for the tips.

I'll cut back on the delay/verb, although I like having lots of it on some tones

I didn't really know what you meant when you said odd. Did you mean I got the riff wrong?

Re: Some POD settings

I can't get the tone files off the POD, but heres the settings:

Nice Clean Sound
Amp model: Line 6 Clean
Cab model: 1995 Matchless Chieftain 2x12
Gain: 9 o'clock
Bass: 2 o'clock
Treble: 3 o'clock
Mids: 3 o'clock
Presence: 2 o'clock
Neck pickup or position #4, lots of Delay, a bit of verb

Slayer
Seasons in the Abyss
Amp model: Modern HiGain (Soldano X88R Tube Preamp)
Cab model: Line 6 1x12
Gain: 2 o'clock
Bass: 1 o'clock
Treble: 3 o'clock
Mids: FULL
Presence: 2 o'clock

Metallica
Kill 'Em All Distortion
Amp model: Brit HiGain (JCM 800)
Cab model: 1965 Fender Blackface Twin 2x12
Gain: 4:30
Bass: 8:00
Treble: 4:00
Mids: 3 o'clock
Presence: Full
Using a single coil pickup or split humbucker with this setting will get you a good Black Magic Woman (Santana) sound

Ride the Lightning (hell yeah)
Amp model: Modern HiGain (Soldano X88R Tube Preamp)
Cab model: Line 6 4x12
Gain: 2 o'clock
Bass: 10:30
Treble: 3:30
Mids: 1 o'clock
Presence: Full
Quite a lot of reverb
This setting can also be used for an old Slayer tone (eg. Reign in Blood)

Master of Puppets
Amp model:Treadplate (1994 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Tremoverb)
Cab model: Line 6 4x12
Gain: 2 o'clock
Bass: 11:30
Treble: 3:30
Mids: 2 o'clock
Presence: Full

Justice (yuck)
Same as Puppets but with mids scooped more

Steve Vai Not great, but close as I could get
Amp model:Treadplate (1994 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Tremoverb)
Cab model: 1978 Marshall with Stock 70s 4x12
Gain: 3:30
Bass: 11 o'clock
Treble: 2:30
Mids: 3:30
Presence: 3:00

Do you think they are fairly close?
