Someone has experience with "Tubing for Pickup Height Adjustment"

Re: Someone has experience with "Tubing for Pickup Height Adjustment"

No it doesn't change the sound. Not that I can tell anyway. That's the standard stuff to use for Fender or Duncan Strat single coils. You can buy it in a really good hardware store too. Lew

Thanks
I've just read on stemacs
Just like on vintage Fenders, this rubber tubing avoids microphonic feedback and rattles that metal pickup springs can cause.

I haven't ever had a problem either way. But I do use the rubber tubing just because that's what I want to see. I don't like the look of springs on a Strat pickup...it's not the vintage look.

Re: Someone has experience with "Tubing for Pickup Height Adjustment"

I have used the tubing and I have not had any bad results with it and I did not notice any difference with tone. At times I like it better than using springs.

Re: Someone has experience with "Tubing for Pickup Height Adjustment"

The first replacement pickup I ever had (Demon) was direct mounted using the tubing rather than springs. I like to experiment and adjust the pickup height for various applictations, so I prefer springs.

The rubber tubing doesn't work well with humbuckers. It's for Strats and Teles. Lew

I use tubing from StewMacs.

It's surgical tubing, so you could probably get some from a medical supply place if you wanted.

SD supplies tubing with a lot of their pickups. good enough for me. :)

Is this due to size & weight reasons?

Length I think. Humbuckers use a longer spring.

Re: Someone has experience with "Tubing for Pickup Height Adjustment"

I thought it maybe has a effect coz of the absorption. It should have one but but it seems to be to small that it sound different. (from what you guys told)

thanks so far....
