Something about a Les Paul

I've played a ton of different guitars over the years, but the Les Paul just feels like home to me. I was getting my guitars ready for a show this coming weekend and thought I'd snap a picture. 2001 Classic and a 2005 Standard.

Re: Something about a Les Paul

Those are nice.

My Number One guitar will always be a G&L Legacy...I've been a strat guy for more than 40 years. But I agree...there's something about a good Les Paul. I have a BUNCH of these G&Ls, but somehow I wound up with 11 Pauls. They are addicting! My favs are the Historics, but I have Classics, Supremes and a Custom Shop Elegant. I always feel like I'm fighting them a bit, but I love the tones from these guitars.

When they are right, they are REALLY right!

Nice axes. Yeah, no matter how long you own your Paul you still will have those "I can't believe this beauty is mine moments".

Re: Something about a Les Paul

The gold top is currently sporting a DiMarzio Super Distortion and 36th Anni PAF. I need to updat the sig. Lol

Beautiful. I am still waiting for the right plain-top to come my way some day, in the same color as yours on the right.

Re: Something about a Les Paul

I'm the same, LP are what feels right to me. I enjoy others (teles, 335) but it's always about the les pauls...

Nice pair of Pauls! The only thing wrong with that pic is......The Wine Rack Is Empty!

Depending on the angle you look at it, my standard either has wicked flame or looks like a plain top. Lol.

I know what you mean. There's nothing that feels or sounds like an LP. Some guitars I have to be in the mood for, but I'm always comfortable and confident with an LP.

Lol. Just received the rack as a gift. I'm more of a bourbon guy. My wife hasn't moved the wine yet. But I'll let her know she needs to get on it. :)

Re: Something about a Les Paul

Feel wise, they are home for me too. Where the controls are, the switch, resting my pinky on the pickup ring, etc. I get right back into the groove.

But I have a devil of a time getting the pickups right in them to get all 3 positions to sound how I want them.

Have you tried the Whole Lotta Humbucker set yet? Very well balanced in the middle position. Both pickups sound killer on their own. The bridge has that punch we all desire to come out of our Pauls, think of a Toys/Rocks era Perry tone. Put it on the neck position and play Since I've Been Loving You and a single tear will roll down your cheek.

Re: Something about a Les Paul

The LP is home for me too. I think about what I would change about other guitars, and realize I just want them to be Les Pauls.

Oh man - I'm picking up that Gold Top and playing this!

+1. Other than trying different PU's and wirings, there's nothing I'd change about an LP Std or Custom.

Re: Something about a Les Paul

Don't get me wrong, I do love a good strat too... But every time I bring a different guitar to band practice they ask where the Les Paul is. Lol. My bass player , whom I've been playing with for 12 years, says I don't sound right without a Les Paul. Lol
