The flame on the neck doesn't show up well, hopefully it'll improve after some finish is applied.

If its any consolation, i am starting an entire guitar assembly with just a pickup i like.

Still waiting on the body. Not pictured but ready to go is the string tree, some various screws, finishing supplies, and wiring.

The block of metal by the neck plate will be the bridge baseplate soon. It's 6AL-4V titanium. I almost bought a hipshot bridge but I thought, hey, why not make one? I was going to use some scrap Inconel 718 from workplace, but its heavy and even more of a pain to cut. The titanium was only 28 bucks plus 35 for the graphtech saddles. I'll program and run the titanium while I'm working on parts at work on another machine.

And making a guitar based on a pickup you like is awesome, Jerry. I did that once. It took two tries but I love the guitar so much now. The only pickup I've not been tempted to modify.

^I have puny forearms and a light picking style. I prefer low, low string tension. But this isn't the actual set that is going on this guitar. It's going to be tuned to open C# minor. So I ordered individual strings to make a set that will have as close to the same tension as the pictured set as possible. On their website, they have a cool string tension calculator that lets you play with tunings, scale length, and string gauges, it handles the math.

Just jerking your chain, mang. Nothing wrong with light strings if they sound and play well for you.

Where's the calculator you mentioned?
