I'm looking for suggestions for pickups other than a custom for the bridge position. I've tried JBs and don't like them. They seem to boomy or bassy or something. Not enough definition. I actually love the custom but just wanted to see what other might reccomend. It's going in a mahogany body with maple top American BC Rich Mockingbird. Anything? Anyone?

Yes a Custom would be great or a C5 in this guitar, or a screaming demon !!!
If you want even more definition and bite the Demon i suggest .

Re: Something other than a Custom?

A C5 is definitely worth looking into....but it has more bass than the JB. Honestly man I've never heard the JB called boomy. As far as the Demon goes I remember Ben saying it doesn't play nice with LP's.

Re: Something other than a Custom?

If the JB is boomy in your guitar that means it is bass heavy then i highly recommend a Demon , with its super tight but full lows and its super fast pick attack it will make your speakers jump like crazy; hats what it did in a Gibson i had witch was very bassy .
And the sustain and harmonics in this p-u are outstanding , with a very balanced EQ ( with better balanced EQ of duncan line with the Custom )

Re: Something other than a Custom?

The full Shred is a very underated Duncan pickup! I would suggest that!!

Screamin' Demon going once...

Re: Something other than a Custom?

Not to undermine everyone else but, I has absolutly no luck with the Demon. I found it to be very harsh, way too bright and like an Ice pick jabbing be in the side!! It just didnt work for me though, alot of folks like them.

Re: Something other than a Custom?
