When using the tone wizard, you get 2 options. Are you supposed to always combine the same numbers? like in bridge 1 with neck one or can both options be combined? bridge 1 with neck 2?

thanks... :smack:

Re: somewhat stupid question...

get whatever sounds best to your ears. the tone wizard just narrows down the options for the type of music you listed. you can always go a diferent route

Re: somewhat stupid question...

The tonewizard is just a cool tool to get you an indication what suits you.

The good thing is that it does specify the guitar's wood.
Some people tend to forget that.

But get your information also from other points: there are elaborate threads on this forum, listen to the audioclips, what do your favorite bands use, talk to your supplier etc etc...

I've done that all myself and.... find it very hard to choose.
But I'll get an JB/59 next week!!!!

BTW: SD has an 21 days garanty to change pickup.

well... yes, kind of. while i wouldnt really stick an invader into a mahagony guitar, but i wouldnt have a problem with a JB in an ash axe. i wouldnt go, oh, i have an alder guitar, it's a bit bright so a bright pup doesnt even strike me. i think it's silly to chose a pup just because your axe is a little on the bright or bassy side. i say go for what suits you. wood isnt half of the tonal factor in a guitar to be that big of a thing on the final tone. it does color the tone and sometimes even the shape of the tone, but not to the extent where you rule out pickups, just BECAUSE of the wood

Re: somewhat stupid question...

It wasn't my point to overemphasize the wood. :blackeye:

I was just pointing out that the same pickup soud different in different guitars etc....

It is just a part of the sound-chain.
But a big part? ... YES.

i never said sounds exactly the same. the wood does color the sound, but no the extent, it changes the pups tone to something totaly diferent.

i think.. people give too much emphasis on wood. basically it all boils down to the fact that you're trying to make your axe sound kickass...

man.. i'm so argumentative today .. somebody stop me (tm)
