Sonar 8, guitar amp mic

Hello, anyone here using Sonar? I mic'd my amp with a really cheap mic (I'm still shopping for sm57) and recorded some clips to try and figure out how to use Sonar with my digital interface which is a firewire device called Fireone. It has left and right xlr plugs, I plugged the mic in the right xlr plug and recorded these clips. I wasn't able to use the Pan feature in Sonar to change it to stereo.

Can anyone help me record in stereo? That way I can just pan left or right as needed. I'm sure it is a simple solution but I am new to mic recording so any help at all will be appreciated.

Thanks!

To get a 'stereo' sound out of a mic'd amp like that, you need to double track it, and pan each performance left/right.

Tone sounds cool, but you need to tune your low string down a few cents - you're picking it sharp in that first bit.

Re: Sonar 8, guitar amp mic

for what ever reason the Sonar panning tool didn't allow me to pan it left or right, it was permanently right. If I plug the mic into the left and record another track I'll have one right and one left which is great, but I won't be able to control the panning. I think I just need to go through Sonar help files to fix this.

I suspect you need to record to a mono track in Sonar not a stereo track, then pan the mono track left or right. Just a guess.
