i own it, and the manual didnt explain anything at all, so I'm coming to yall for assistance.

when i record say a rythym guitar, and a lead over it. i record the rythym, and then record the lead while i can hear the rythym playing so i dont screw up. when i play it back. the lead track has recorded both the rythym and the lead, and its quite annoying. or the drums i record get all distorted when i record other instruments over it. this has brought about alot of questions...

am i recording the wrong way? if so, what do i do instead??

Is there anyway to turn this feature off, or something?

is this normal for all recording software, and if i purchased i different type of recording software would I have the same problem?

and is Sonar home studio 4 XL kind of a "beginner" thing. i got it for my b-day a year ago and it was fine for the newbie stuff. but now i want to record harmonized guitars, bass, drums, vox, synthesizers, etc etc... and would a better software like pro tools or something be better?

im pretty sure sonar is fine
but i have no idea how to use it properly
