Sosomething, I issue thee a challenge!

Re: Sosomething, I issue thee a challenge!

Please. Like I've ever not finished.

Funny you should say that about the Tele, though...

My wallet's one step closer to really ****ing hating you.

If you hate me now, wait till you see what I have coming on Thursday.

By the way, that riff at 3:46 that I mentioned...do I detect a little bit of an ASIWYFA vibe there?

If you do, it's totally unintentional, though I won't deny it could be there subliminally. I was actually going for kind of a country-esque lick there.

Interesting. Sounded like a Mastodonish riff to me.

Re: Sosomething, I issue thee a challenge!

did sound like some Mastodon ish! that new mastodon album is the shizzle...

Re: Sosomething, I issue thee a challenge!

Man, I'm almost two weeks late to this party. Awesome riffage in there!

Re: Sosomething, I issue thee a challenge!

God dammit, stop being so good at this!

You're raising the damn bar too high! How's a backward sloppy-fingered Canadian supposed to not sound like last night's dinner in comparison?

Jesus. I give up. Who wants to buy six left-handed guitars that smell like salt and vinegar chips?

I always miss replies to these threads. I think my tapatalk doesn't always let me know when new ones pop up.

Yeah those riffs and that tone is just amazing.

Thank you Grumps!

You have nothing to fear from wherever I put the bar, because you keep it pretty damn high yourself. Your lead phrasing really resonates with me, in particular.

But yeah, I'll take two of those guitars and a bag of chips.

Me too. Thank God I don't have a microphone. I can't say enough good things about your tone and taste, sir. Excellent work.

And yes, this thread deserved resurrection.

I hate to seem like I'm babysitting this thread, but I couldn't let this go without telling you how much I appreciate that.

I totally forgot I was involved in this thread.

That's cool. It does have a slightly country-ish thing going on, but I've always felt that ASIWYFA do, too. All those pull-offs to open strings always seemed very inspired by both Irish and English trad and folk.

If you like that kinda thing, then check out this band that I'm ****ing fanatical about; Crazy Arm.

"Hard twang with sweat-corroded pick-ups. A city-grown abscess bursting out on the moorlands. 16 Horsepower with 100w Marshall heads. Fugazi with banjos, but without banjos."

That last line's what sold me on them.

Anyway. Not sure if you'll dig'em or not, but they've got that country/folk influenced non-pussy rock thing going on in spades.

Gonna check that out when I get home for sure. It sounds like my kind of thing.

I love traditional folk music from a number of places.. Bluegrass / Americana being my favorite but I also enjoy Irish folk music and stuff from Eastern Europe, in particular.

Sweet. I'll be interested in your opinion, especially as a fan of harder musical styles. They do tend to lean more towards catchy, more anthemic choruses but they're punk enough to get away with it, I think.

Totally hear you on that last bit. Trad's the original punk music, man.

THE POWER OF THE RIFF COMPELS ME!

Sick sick tones and WICKED riffs man. Really awesome! I hope I can say without being too nut swingerish, but when forming my new band, I made the other members listen too DOB Swirling Frozen Doom at almost every practice for a couple months!
