Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

I used two rectifier patches, a vox beatles type patch, a vox u2 patch, a zeppelin type patch and a solo patch I made using the synth program from the GT10 with my Dean Hardtail. I even did a solo at the end and for me that's a big deal! Yah, it's nothing inventive but what the hay. :) I hope you like it.

"Soul Love" can be heard here:

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

First impression: Modern sounding mix, a bit too boomy kick for my taste. Guitars sound a bit grainy, but it fits the sound.

Other than that, I hear A-ha, Nick Cave, and overall alot of the 80's. Great stuff :). Are you trying to get a hit? I'm not in the best mood for this kind of music right now, but I'm sure I'd like it even more if this was a late saturday night at a club. It's big, dark, moody and has an urban quality to it :)

I hear that you know your trade... would you like to listen to some of my stuff?

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

Thanks for the listen and the words Erlend. Oh yes, I'm trying to write commercial songs for sure. I'm too old to starve anymore. :) I'll give the mix a lot more attention before I release the track so I'll keep in mind what you have heard.

I'd be happy to listen to your music. You can send me mp3's from our web site or a link to your music. The site is http://www.innerdreamrecords.com and just use the contact button.

Glad you liked it and thanks for listening.

I'm always expecting to make a Bowie song! LOL It never works out that way though...I think you're probably meaning his "Modern Love" track with SRV playing guitar. That is a frikin amazing record and I only wish I could do something that good someday.

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

I agree with the kick being too boomy.

Sounds like you have a good grasp of writing and engineering tho. I didn't get to really listen to it because... well nevermind...

Well Done!

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

This tune screams "End Credits" to me, bro.....really cinematic. I dig music like this. Especially when it's a song that causes me to keep forgetting I'm supposed to be listening to a tone sample of a multi effects/modeller/amp :D

Thanks for sharing!

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

Cool thanks bros. :) You were all right the kick was very loud! Operator error.

Maybe this could be a end credit song in a chick flick? That would make my day. :) Think of all the girls...LOL

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

Okay, I think I have a good mix now? Check it out if you want.

Soul Love

Ya, I dont get the myspace player.

Your stuff is great! Most tasteful orchestrations and best fitting vocals of this forum imo! Vocals are so professional sounding! inspiring.

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

I think it sounds good, could be a little more present and the kickdrum is doing something in the sub-base freqs... that it should be doing.

The whole groove would benefit if you got rid of the kick boominess (reverb on the kick? maybe filter the reverb around 100hz to get rid of it).

Otherwise I think it sounds REALLY good! :)

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

Thanks Happy and eresseraca!

There's no reverb on the kick but there are room mics so maybe that's the problem? I'll listen again. Thanks again about the vocals Happy, I never think they sound good. I guess all singers think that way? :(

Re: Soul Love - Boss GT10 and Addictive Drums.

Cool tune as allways.
My critique will be ...
The kick is too boomy
The cymbals are too present .The "open hi-hat" is too loud compared to the closed Hi-hat which sounds unnatural for my drummr ears hehe.
The snare could get a liitle bit sustain and reverb, but cool tone.
You voice is perfect and I love how you use it as allways.
The Keyboard in your first chorus is too in your face. Maybe less present,or panning different can help.

Professional song ,and with littlebit tweaking ,professional sound.
I dig it!
