I just found this demo i made waaaaay back in the late 80's. It brought back alot of good memories of those days. When i listened to it i got a laugh out of how much music has changed over the years. It's a tad on the commercial cheesy side of things :D but i figured i would just post it for fun. I used my 70 Super lead for this one. Enjoy!

That was great! Cheesy, but wicked sweet nonetheless :D

Re: Sound clip - Here's a cheesy 80's original i recorded (Marshall Super Lead)

I'm diggin the tone of the guitar and amp.......... :)

Re: Sound clip - Here's a cheesy 80's original i recorded (Marshall Super Lead)

This reminds me that the Marshall Super Lead is the tone in my head. You sound great and the playing sounds very good. I've always been very impressed by your clips :)

I often think that 'chorusy' distortion = 80's.

Nice work mate.

Re: Sound clip - Here's a cheesy 80's original i recorded (Marshall Super Lead)

this sounds damn sweet!
who cares if it's cheesy if it soudns good :headbang:

That would have been in heavy cassette rotation back in the day. A very nice track and a tone that just kills Winger.

I love 80's music man... Journey all the way! That Ibanez Artist sounds nice man. What did you use in the 80's clip?

Re: Sound clip - Here's a cheesy 80's original i recorded (Marshall Super Lead)

I used the same guitar and setup as this clip, just a slightly different reverb. It's my Ibanez Artist.

hmm.. do you remember the settings and effects you used on this one? i'm majorly digging the tone and i'd like to at least get close with the super lead modeller on the port (what cab also.. mainly size and type of speakers ;)

:D

*edit* a question.. what does the jump lead thingy do?

Thanks. I used my 81 Ibanez Artist with the stock pickups and a 1970 Marshall Super Lead hooked up to a 1960 Classic Marshall cab with 25 watt Greenback reissue speakers. The amp had a master volume mod on it at the time. I bought it that way and then eventually returned it back to stock specs. I had all controls set to 10 and the gain set to around 2/3. *Warning*..Rediculously LOUD! LOL.
I'm not really sure what you mean about the "jump thingy"? If it's what i think you mean i just plug straight in to the upper left input of the four.

VH, I finally had a chance to listen to this one while at work. (Dial up at home takes way to long.) Ah yes, the BIG 80's! I really liked that one quiet a lot. Very catchy. Did you write that one or was it a joint effort? I liked the riff during the verses. I can actually hear that being used in something today. Man, you were tearing it up with style and tone even back then! Of what you said you've been playing for about 24 years now so I'm guessing you were playing for about 10 years at the time of this demo. Unreal! Did you play any other insrument's prior to guitar? If not, ship me some of the water you guy's are drinking in N.J. okay?

OWWW!!! :headbang:

Awesome tone! Awesome tune... who cares if it sounds a little dated it kicks boo-tay!

This song rocks, as do all your clips.....but I think the best song out of the bunch is the one you have listed as "Old 80s Original", "Yesterday".

That song is 10 times better than 1/2 the crap that actually made the airwaves back then & I think it could be a hit today!

Very very good tune!!!

Thanks Mike! Yeah, it was about 10 years playing at that point. Actually the water's not too good over here in New Jersey :D although at the time i lived in New York and it was great so who knows LOL. I wrote all the music on this song and also wrote some of the melody lines for the vocals. It's funny about that riff in the verses because i wrote it when i was 14. I remember sitting there in my bedroom when the idea popped into my head and really quick hitting the record button on my trusty JVC tape recorder so i wouldn't forget it LOL. As far as other instruments go my grandmother taught me piano when i was about 8 or 9 and over the years of being in bands i picked up bass and drums. One of the first bands i was in we used to switch all our instrunents on one song and i would play the drums. It was alot of fun. If i didn't live in such a small apartment i would get myself a nice kit.

Thanks man. I just wish i knew what to do with it. I wonder if there is a place on the internet where you can submit your music and let record companies hear it. Anyone know? Someone i spoke with suggested trying to submit it to record companies over seas. He said this style of music is still huge over there. His band got hooked up with one and is making pretty good money with it.

it supposedly gives you more gain. you hook the lower left and upper right inputs with a small cable
