Sound clip - Here's a cheesy 80's original i recorded (Marshall Super Lead)

Re: Sound clip - Here's a cheesy 80's original i recorded (Marshall Super Lead)

For 3 minutes and 32 seconds I felt if I´d be in the 80´s. Time machine effect I would call that
This rocks!

it supposedly gives you more gain. you hook the lower left and upper right inputs with a small cable
From my experiences with it i always get more gain when i don't jump. Anytime i try that it always makes the bottom end sound flubby and the gain drops a slight bit. It may act differently at lower volumes, i'm not really sure, but i always keep the volume between 6 and 10 when i record and the EQ changes at those levels.

Hey VH... are you just throttling the Marshall 1970 to get that tone or are you using just a teensy bit of pedal drive? Or is it the one-tube trick or what?

When i recorded this demo my 70 Super Lead had a master volume mod in it. Not too long after that i returned it back to stock specs. All i did was turn every tone control including the volume all the way to 10 and set the gain around 2/3. A combination of the power tube distortion, low watt speakers(25 watt Greenbacks), and the slight amount of master volume gain gave me that sound. No drive pedal at all and all four tubes in, just straight into the amp.

LOL..yeah man, all on 10. I remember when i recorded it the guy who ran the studio couldn't figure out why i had it that LOUD..LOL. The walls were rumbling throughout the whole place. It just sounds so good when you record that amp that way imo. I have a few more i'm gonna post. I just have to get them onto my computer. Thanks again bro.

What kinda cab/mic were you using? if you recall that is. Personally I love Greenback-loaded 4x12's.

I used two SM57 mic's and my cab is a Marshall 1960 Classic 4x12 with Greenback reissues.
