From my experiences with it i always get more gain when i don't jump. Anytime i try that it always makes the bottom end sound flubby and the gain drops a slight bit. It may act differently at lower volumes, i'm not really sure, but i always keep the volume between 6 and 10 when i record and the EQ changes at those levels.Davey said:

When i recorded this demo my 70 Super Lead had a master volume mod in it. Not too long after that i returned it back to stock specs. All i did was turn every tone control including the volume all the way to 10 and set the gain around 2/3. A combination of the power tube distortion, low watt speakers(25 watt Greenbacks), and the slight amount of master volume gain gave me that sound. No drive pedal at all and all four tubes in, just straight into the amp.B2D said:
