Soundtracks.

I just got asked to provide a soundtrack to an indie short film. It is being edited now, and once done, I will get to work on it. The writer/director is a fan of my work and wants some kind of industrial sci-fi sounding stuff.

Nice, hope you get a chance to check mine out, also in tracks there is "China Moon" and "Spy Island" specifically written as soundtracks.

All 3 sound great! How did you record them? What did you use for drums and the keys? I dig them, really chill. Sounds like something I would do. I can see you syncing all 3 to some drone footage sweeping over the landscape.

The keys are an ASM Hydrasynth... brilliant bit of kit, drums are a mix of the drum sounds in Abelton 12 Live, and an Alesis SR18, Guitars and Bass are via a Helix LT, with my own presets and IR's all recorded through a Tascam Model 24, which is truly amazing. My own playback is through a pair of Yamaha HS8 powered speakers, very transparent studio speakers.

Glad you like the tracks, I must have done 80 or so tunes since getting the rig sorted.
Keeps me off the streets!

I like your track Red Hats.. The world needs more protest songs..

here's another soundtrack..

Thanks!

That's a cool one too. I'm not familiar with the Hydrasynth, is this an analog thing or a software unit? I've been playing around with some keys and synth stuff lately as pads in some stuff, but just with a cheap midi controller.

Its a keyboard, they are known as digital morphing synths.. big thing about them is that they have 4 LFO's so you can recreate analong sounds as well polymorphic digital/analog

I would love to do a soundtrack; I have never had the opportunity. We do have two songs that are going to be featured in a documentary about Boston's Combat Zone from our new album, which is named after that district.

that was the red light district, right?

That was the main draw but there was every type of vice there. The Combat Zone was right next to Chinatown, so as kids we would go there for fireworks. When we got into our later teens, you could get fake IDs there. My friend's family owned the pizza shop in the center so we would pop in there for a slice.
