SPB-3 Waveform Question?

Hello. I've replaced a stock Fender pickup from a MIM Fender Presicion. I've installed a SD SPB 3 quarter pound on it. I've noticed the waveform of the Seymour Duncan is like inverted comparing to de Fender pickup. Is it supposed to be like this? or maybe I did something wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Re: SPB-3 Waveform Question?

Fender instruments are typically out of phase from most Duncan and other manufacturers.

This is only truly a problem when trying to combine several brands and you run into a phase cancellation from being out of phase with 2 or more pickups.

If it sounds good to you that's all that matters. If it bothers you you can try reversing the hot with ground, but I doubt their will be an audible difference.

What about the rest of the signal chain? There are other places where a phase reversal can occur.

I've used this wire kit that came with the pickup. I connected the wires as described in the instructions that came with the pickup. I think that I did everything correct, but that's why I'm asking. If the output is what is expected as allstarme says, then fine. But if there's a phase reversal as you may suggest, maybe something is wrong.

Re: SPB-3 Waveform Question?

I was only trying to suggest that the idea of "absolute phase" is not inviolate. The rising edge on your waveform could easily become a falling edge after the signal is put though a pedal, or even your amp. It's even possible that your ADC inverts the signal being recorded.

Is there a bridge pickup as well, and if so are they out of phase? If no, then there's nothing to worry about.

Ok. There's only one pickup. So I'm fine then.
Thank you for your help.
