SPB-4

Just picked up an SJB-4 to put in my PJ project bass. The jazz pickup in the bridge is pretty weak and thin. Would an SJB-1 be too low output to match up, or should I go with an SJB-2?

Re: SPB-4

An SJB-2b should give a good output level match for your SPB-4. You may need to set the J fairly close to the strings and the P lower than expected. There will still be a noticeable tonal difference between the individual pickups in their respective positions.

Re: SPB-4

Another good option is to go stacked. Since the P is hum cancelling, one can be hum cancelling in the bridge too. There's a vintage and a hot STKJ-1b & STKJ-2b. Same single coil sound, no noise when isolated at the bridge position.
