Speaker break in?

Re: Speaker break in?

EDIT: damn, ken361 beat me to it, lol :foot:

This is from Celestion's website. I'm not sure how well it works, never tried it myself.

HOW DO I BREAK IN MY SPEAKERS?

Important Note! Before breaking it in it's advisable to "warm up" the speaker gently for a few minutes with low-level playing or background hum.
Break in a speaker with a fat, clean tone: turn up the power amp volume to full, and control the level with the preamp gain. Use a level that will be quite loud, but not painful in a normal size room.
Have the bass and mid up full, and the treble at least half. On your guitar, use the middle pick up position (if your guitar has more than one pick up) and play for 10-15 minutes using lots of open chords, and chunky percussive playing. This will get the cone moving, and should excite all the cone modes and get everything to settle in nicely. The speaker will continue to mature over the years, but this will get it 95% of the way to tonal perfection in the shortest time.

I tried moisturizing lotion and it didnt help.. now I have almost no response.

Lol.

Seriously, do what I did. Buy your cab, plug a loud amp into it, find a loud rock drummer, and play loud enough to strip the paint of the walls for hours and hours and hours and hours.

After a while, either your cab will sound great, or your ears will be so shot it won't make a difference.

Thats Great. definitely sig worthy!

But seriously folks..G12h-30 takes about 300 hours to break in to sound anything but unlistenable. After that, its a decent speaker. if you have the time for that, be my guest.
I run up against a brick wall with alot of you here who just don't give a leap about anything. ..."Just play it, whatever it is, doesnt matter " so some say. Man, thats totally against my ideals., but more power to you. Wish I had tin ears!..( its a lot less frustrating and way cheaper). No, not ranting tonight. Just the facts jack. lol

And so, if that from celestion site is true i can play almost fuzz music with my Blackheart Handsome Devil comboz : G12H30 Anniversary insiude. thatf settings described gives me almost fuzzy tones without the fuzz pedal. anyway... i think i am gonna use looper a lot. so treble at minimum while playing.. but will 15 watter break that speaker alone ? Anyway, an old thread.
