Speaker Cab Question

I have a Peavey Classic 30 with a Weber Siliver Bell. I am going to buy a 1X12 extension cab and am trying to figure out which speaker to put in.

I also want to use the extension cab as the main speaker for a few low watt amps I have.

Which speaker would compliment the Silver Bell but also stand on its own when used with the heads?

Re: Speaker Cab Question

Blue dog? The cab size I think you want to look at carefully. I have personally not found any of the small 1x12 closed to sound very good. What the various makers call "over sized" sound much better to me.

Re: Speaker Cab Question

I keep having to bring up the Emi Swamp Thang. Man that is a great sounding speaker by itself or in combination. Really rich and full sounding with great detail. Warm sounding but with nice chimey highs and very articulate.

It's very efficient and has a high wattage rating so you can feel secure in using it with just about ANY amp...from low wattage bedroom practice amps to screaming monsters.

Re: Speaker Cab Question

Im going to buy an Avatar cab. Any thoughts?

They primarily sell celestions in their cabs and at a great price.

Any suggestions on a celestion speaker that will fit the bill.

How do I use speaker efficiency to determine what amp I can use it with?

Re: Speaker Cab Question

I ordered the 1258's in 16 ohms from them (maybe that makes them 12516's) from them. If you drop them a note or call they will usually work with you on these.
