Speaker Cable help needed

I always have used combos but very soon will be pickup up a head/cab. What speaker cable should I get? (gauges and brands please)

I use inexpensive 14 ga speaker cables by Live Wires. No problems so far. I only need about 3ft from head to cab so I don't see the need for anything more expensive.

If you wanna spend some $$$ on a more expensive cable, I'd go with SPECTRAFLEX cable.

I use spectraflex instrument cables, they are thick and heavy but sound good. What gauge would I be looking at?

A quick look at Spectraflex's website shows they only have 16 AWG speaker cables and another that consists of 4 - 20AWG wires...

Personally, I prefer the slightly thicker 14 awg but for short runs like from a head to a cab 16 awg should be just fine.

For the short distance between head and cab the gauge doesn't really matter.

As long as it is sturdy enough. A tube amp doesn't react well to a broken (disconnected) speaker cable.

I just ordered the 3 foot live wire 16 gauge for $10. Figured I didn't need anything better.... :/
