speaker choice for champ

So I have the guts to a 59 champ, different chassis, and caps. It is wired for an 8 ohm output also. I have a cab (5E3) that has been cut to accept one 10" speaker. I would like to use an alnico speaker but of course my space is limited. What speaker do I use? I am thinking about ordering from weber, as his shop is only an hour away from me, but i am open to other suggestions.

You guys know me, I am always looking for a cool vintage style tone.

Let the suggestions fly.

thanks for the help guys

Re: speaker choice for champ

I think you can't go wrong with a Weber if your looking for vintage tone.:)

Re: speaker choice for champ

Are you sure it's 8 ohms?! Does it have the original output tranny?

Either way if you want a vintage style Alnico 10 get a Weber and the model I would suggest is the 10A100T...thats Ted's version of the 50's Jensen P10R and it is a killer speaker!

it does not have the original output tranny. but it is an old tranny, can't seem to date it. I don't think it was from a champ. It is hard to tell what was original and what isn't.

thanks for the suggestions guys. That was one of the speakers I was looking at Christian

I say go for it! I have one of those very same speakers in my Super and it is just a killer speaker...nice bright tone with killer compressino on it's own and an almost sax/harp like breakup when you push it!

Yep...but get it with a ribbed cone. Not a smooth cone.

More highs from the ribbed cone.
