Speaker Exchange for HRD and Blues Junior

Hey guys,

The Blues Junior v4 amps have a Celestion A speaker. The tweed Ltd Editions have a Jensen speaker. That's what I have. I am really liking my Blues Junior. It's tighter and crisper sounding and quicker reacting than my HRD v4. Wonder what would happen if I put my HRD Celestion A speaker in the Blues Junior. They are both 8 ohm speakers.

Try it. Its only a few mins of work to swap a speaker.
Just when the back is off dont touch the amp circuit at all. The caps hold allot if power even when unplugged.

doesnt hurt to drain the caps anytime you open up the amp. as far as the speaker... like sam said, give it a whirl and see what ya think. does your bjr have the jensen c12n?

Speaking of c12n.....I had a nice sounding 1968 one from a univox cab.
When we moved my wife decided to help pack....buy stacking all my loose speakers....the c12n was on the bottom

Yes.

I made the switch. There is a very noticeable difference. There is less boxiness and the tone is more open. The highs and lows are bigger and the mids aren't quite as harsh. Very favorable tone IMO. It did make the amp a little heavier to carry. This was a good exchange.

Now to put the C12N in my HRD and see what that sounds like.
