Speaker match for Mesa single rec

Hi,

Im looking at switching out the stock speakers in my genz benz cab to something else. The stock ones are copies of gt12-75.

I was thinking vintage 30 or g12H but im not certain. other options?

I want something less picky and annoying on the high end while retaining a good bass response. I play metal (downtuned, nu, killswitch style as well as sabbath etc)

Thanks!

I heard that Celestion G12K-100s (or Eminence The Tonker) are also great for the type of music you play. I will be trying them in my 2x12 and I am so excited.

Re: Speaker match for Mesa single rec

Recto cabs have V30's stock, and the amps are dialed in to work well with them, so I'd go with those.

Re: Speaker match for Mesa single rec

The V30 or any middy speaker with an edge and a tight bottom would be a good match for a Recto.

The V30 for the win. :)

I was gonna say, why not trust the makers of the amp, and pair it with a Mesa Rectifier series cab. Oversized, closed back, loaded with V30s... should do exactly what you want it to do.

Is it a 2x12 or a 4x12?

If it's a 4x12, either g12k-100's or vintage 30's are a good choice. For 2x12's, though, I'd lean a bit more towards the g12k-100's.

The vintage 30's are a great speaker, but I personally like the g12k-100's a bit more. Smoother top-end, more bass, but are still distinctively "celestion" speakers. Great for metawlz.

+1
Also G12K-100 speakers are a very common modification for use with Rectifiers.

if you like g12k, try eminence swamp thing, i played one, and it sounds like a g12k on steroids
