Speaker Swap

I have a Blackstar HT 20 Head and the additional Cab. I want to swap the stock speaker Rocket 50 (50 Watts) for a different speaker; Celestion Vintage 30 (60 Watts) or a G12-T75 (75 watts). My question is can I simply swap the speaker in the cab with no additional details? And is this safe for the amp head?
-Thank you for any help or suggestions

Re: Speaker Swap

Not necessarily. You have to match the impedance. And I don't know if that amp has the speaker hard-wired to the output. If you look on the back of the amp, do you see connections for 8 and/or 16 ohm speaker connections? If so, you should be good to go. If not, you have to match the speaker's impedance to the impedance of the existing speaker.

Yeah...check to see if the speaker is soldered to the jack. It probably has some type of slide connectors that are "easily" removed from the speaker.
Just take the old one out and put the new one in.
When you unscrew(or screw in) the speaker...do not move the screw drive or drill across the cone. Move it around the side of the cone as you go from screw to screw.
Many speakers have been punched when the owner drops the screw driver into the paper cone while doing an install.
Yeah...check the Impedance.
good luck

Re: Speaker Swap

Any speaker you put in there is probably going to be a huge improvement. The Rocket 50 is just about the cheapest and worst sounding spkr you can get. Just make sure it is the correct impedance for your amp.
