Lets say if I had a mesa boogie triaxis with a mesa boogie 2:90, What speakers would go best with it?

Lotsa ppl say the vintage 30's are best, But im not sure - I have heard a few bogus reviews...

Yes - i WILL try before I buy, but I just need some indications and thoughts.
There are too many speakers out there, i need to narrow it down.
BY THE WAY - I'm talking in either a 2x12 or 4x12 config. Probably be a 2x12 config, to save the crowd and my ears and back, and wallet...

Triaxis
2:90
2x12 loaded with????

Like the sound of petrucci, metallica, satriani, vai, 311 etc. Pretty diverse actually.
I'm not gonna try and use buzzwords to describe the sound im after...

thx

Re: Speakers

Damn! 2:90 is 2x 90watts..into a 2x12, you'll need power handling dude!!!

You dont have lot of choice then...

Re: Speakers

Mesa seems to like the V30's in their own cabs, if that's any indication. Another speaker you can't go wrong with is the Celestion Classic Lead 80: great all round tone, with no real 'spikes' at certain frequencies like the V30. In other words, it doesn't 'color' the sound as much as the V30.

Re: Speakers

Eminence V12, a better, USA made speaker, that handles 120 watts each, at half the price.

Does this mean that 90 watts into a 2x12 = bad? lol.
I figure V30's have 75 watt power ratings, so 75 + 75 = 150?
Doesn't seem bad to me...
Doesnt the v30 breakup at 30 watts but handles 75 or something like that?

No its not bad.

It also depends, are you going to use the cab in stereo or what ? The question is :

- 2x90w into 2x12
OR
- 1x90w into 2x12 ?
