Spin-A-Split Pot Troubles

Ok, I am taking Artie's advice I dug up through the search function to use a 100K linear taper pot for a Spin-A-Split. Problem is, other than Radio**** I have no idea where to find one. The problem with their is the shaft is really long and smooth(*insert favorite dirty joke here*). I also dont know the quality of these pots, where they're made, or anything. I hate to be upgrading the stuff in my LP to all high quality electronics and stuff, but still have this one hunk of crap just kinda... 'there.' So does anyone know where to get odd valued, but great quality (CTS?) that will fit guitar applications? Including Gibson knobs being able to fit on there

Re: Spin-A-Split Pot Troubles

cant go there because they only have standard 'guitar uses' pots. I need different values, but still can fit USA size knobs on them. I won't be able to get something like this from a guitar parts store.... though I am basically getting the rest of my stuff all from Wymore; great site they got going there

Re: Spin-A-Split Pot Troubles

Just checked, there is a linear taper 100k pot with knurled shaft, I think it was under Fender....

Re: Spin-A-Split Pot Troubles

No I didnt see one.... only saw a 100K linear CTS, but with a "splined shaft." I don't know what this is exactly describing because it usually says split shaft for guitar-intended pots, but its says it'll accept 'push-on' knobs. I assume that will accept a standard USA Gibson knob?

Also, Zhang I hear you're one of the few who have gotten the 'good' results from doing a Spin-a-Split. What size pit do you use and are happy with. I've read from Artie's past post that the reason most people dont like spin-a-split is usually due to the fact they use audio-taper 500K which are just wrong for a good even and smooth transition. I thought I remembered him writing that you used something special, but didnt know what it was.

Re: Spin-A-Split Pot Troubles

I've just used whatever extra pot there was in the guitar. It functions perfectly fine but the taper tends to be pretty crazy. Have not tried Artie's suggestion but he knows what he's doing so I assume it should do the trick.

The 100k linear pot I saw I think was intended for Fender amps, but you should be able to push a knob onto it, which means it should work perfectly fine.
