I think a Duncan OD and Duncan Distortion "The pedal" are in order.
I agree ... I didn't expect the tweak fuzz - that was a surprise, but I'd like to see an OD now too :)

I'm intriqued with the Tweak Fuzz also...I also see supply not being able to keep up with the demand for awhile also...We'll have to read the reviews about it...The Duncan products are great, and I'd bet the pedal will be also.

HA. Agreed. I think Dunlop/Boss/Ibanez/Duncan should merge and put this guy in charge of what goes into their pedals. They'd make alot more money.

Hey, not a bad idea huh! :)

Hello buddy....I absolutely love the wah you sold me....

Hey John, how's it goin :) Glad you're having fun with it. It truly is a great sounding Wah. Very "vocal" in my opinion.

Re: Spina DS-1...this is a long one!

Johns mods to my DS-1 certainly made it more usable to my ears. For me it worked well for an already overdriven amp; on my Peavey Classic 30 it really gave a warm thick Sanatana-esque sound. It's a significantly more usable pedal now.

However...what he did was the TS9DX made it go from unusable to irreplaceable! That thing has become my instant fave pedal for my Deluxe Reverb Reissue. It went from a bad facsimilie of a TS9 sound to the real deal-signed,sealed, delivered and tipped the delivery guy on the way.

I need to unload some other gear so I can get ahold of another one for him to mod. It's a pedal I'm not going to be able to do without.

It's not a big deal really, and the pedals aren't even my creation...I can't take that much credit, simply because all I'm doing is changing an already great pedal from Boss....

John

Talented AND Modest to boot!!! I am still scrathcing change to get the TS-9 and VOX 847 to ya. Also, it looks like I will be going for the Spinadrive to cover my Hi-Gain needs.

Looks like you have worked yourself into quite a clientelle/fanclub. I can't wait to get my ears on your work.

Guys....The modded DS1 is all about more gain, more lows, more harmonics and wasn't modded as a "boost" or a pedal to "slightly" overdrive an amp

:thinking out loud mode:

Hmm..Gary Moore used a DS1 for a brief time back in the 80's for taking his NMV/MV Marshalls over the top...you would recommend against that John with your modded version?

Re: Spina DS-1...this is a long one!

All I can say to all the great reviews above is, "YUP!" I use several pedals modded by John and also agree with those who compliment his ability to nail the tones down to a science. He knows how to tweak 'em just right, but if someone else's ears don't quite hear it that way with their rig, he know's how to fix it, too.
John-John, it's amazing how the chain of events go full spectrum....isn't it, bro? Check out the cool praise!
I'm proud to know ya, call you a friend, and a Vox 847 WILL eventually be coming your way!

Peace, brudda!

You could use a modded DS1 for a boost, but when I Mod the DS1,it's normally for more gain, lows, and harmonics...I use mine for higher gain things and not as a boost...Lew on the other hand loves his stock MIJ DS1,and he uses his always on to boost his already great amp tone..

+1 for me too, I love both my DS-1 and SD-1 and can't say enough good things about them. Lately I've been using my DS-1 mainly as a boost for my tele with Vol and tone at 12 o'clock and gain at about 8 o'clock and using the guitars volume to clean it up. Works like a dream!

Re: Spina DS-1...this is a long one!

yeah, my DS-1 sounds terrific with my tele, the SD-1 is killer with my strats ... I don't know why certain combinations of guitar/ amp/ effect work well, but when they do, I don't try to analyze it too much, and just play it and enjoy :)

I'm finding the exact same thing for my Tele, the SD-1 colors my tone just a bit more than I like while the DS-1 seems more transparent without having to tweak it as much. That doesn't seem right because of the nature of each pedal, but that's what my ears are hearing. And all in all, use the KISS principle and you will be happier. If it sounds good, don't mess with it! Now I've just got to get Strat so I can test out the SD-1 theory. Think that I can get that one to pass the wife's scrutiny? "But honey, it's for science!" Hmmm.......maybe she'll let me get that 50th anniversary Strat after all..........sorry, started day dreaming there for a moment!

Thanx for the info John. Would you say that I would be in the same boat with your modded Super Overdrive?

One of these days (I'm horrible at making decisions...) I'm going to get either my SOD or TS9 to you for a mod. I tend to use them as boost and a low "cut". Run the level full up, gain nearly off up to about 9 oclock depending on whether I'm using single coils or humbuckers, and tone is rarely above 9 oclock either.

John does a real mean mod on the Boss OS-2 as well. A real versatile stomp-box after John does his voodoo on it, the "Color" control is really cool to play around with.
Yet again, another relatively lesser expensive pedal that can be bought used and tricked out by J.S.
Way cool!!
