Spina-modded DS-1 problems....SAY IT AIN'T SO

Re: Spina-modded DS-1 problems....SAY IT AIN'T SO

Curly I did a poll recently asking if forum members wanted me to start doing the pedal mods again....Everyone wanted me to.Funny thing is,I've not received 1 PM about modding a pedal for someone>I'm ok either way,but if a guy wants a pedal modded, they just need to contact me.:laugh2:

Would you say the DS-1 mods you do are best achieved on an old one?

i still want to try mr Spina's DS1 mods.... i use that stock pedal a hell of a lot, but wish it had more Bass... the local shop has a bunch of them on special for $56 Canadain....

getting back to the battery cable problem that started this thread..... i bought a DS1 in the early 80's and after years of taking batteries in and out of the thing sometimes in the rush of getting it working for a show, the wires broke.. I used it for a few years with the adapter... then i went out and bought a new DS1 to replace it and use it over my old one...

But finally what i did was buy some 9Volt battery leads from radio shack and cut and stripped the battery wires on the Boss.. I slipped some heat shrink over the wires to use after i soldered... Then i soldered the 2 wires, heated the heat shrink, and now i have a working DS1 again with Batteries.. Plus the bonus was i now have slightly longer battery wires, and i didn't have to try and solder any wires onto the circuit board... which i didn't want to do as i have never soldered on a board before

I'm not sure I'd call it more bass per se, but while I found the original to be fizzy and raspy, the modded one has more depth and body. Its definitely a fuller, more crunchy sound.

Does that sound like more bass? :D

Your modded pedal also was modded for more lows....
