So this pedal has been sitting at my neighbor's house until yesterday...since I was on vacation. Got my amp from Splawn today, and got a chance to spend about 45 minutes with the pedal plugged into the amp.
The first thing I thought when I steped on the pedal, and before hitting a chord was, "Is this thing on?"...it's that quiet. I am using for just a tad bit of bass boost to tighten up my low end, and for a slight level boost...ever so slight, about 1 notch above flat level.
The pedal is so much quieter than it was stock. Also, the frequencies seem much tighter. Bass is tighter as well as mids and treble. And it remains quiet even when boosting the levels of all. Once you get the sliders about 3/4 of the way up, you will start getting some hiss, but you are also seriously boosting the frequencies. Also, I am running this in front of my amp. I need to get some shorter cables for running to the effects loop, but my guess is it will be even quieter there.
I don't want any of you to think I am saying these things just because John is a forum member, brother and friend....the pedal really is great. In fact, it has already become the one pedal that will stay on no matter what. Giving it just a small nudge in the bass on the two far left sliders and setting the level to one notch above flat, it gives my amp just that little extra something that it's missing on it's own. Fuller, tighter and more alive. I can hear the difference, and like it much better on than off. My plan was to use this as a clean boost initially, but now it's an interagal part of my signal chain.
Thumbs up John. If you have one of these pedals sitting around...send it to John and turn it into what it is supposed to be...a killer EQ pedal.
