Spina mods

i just got my Ibanez TS9dx in the mail from Mr. Spina and this thing is amazing. Everything sounds fatter without having that annoying midrange spike in it (and i love alot of mids in my tone) I never really noticed how midrangey it was until i had John worked on my pedal. Alot more useable gain is available (no hissy high end or buzzyness) , more bass is present, overall just better sounding. I've played alot of tubescreamers /TS clones and this is the best sounding one. The thing that really floors me is how all 4 modes have usuable sounds. Before i kept it on the TS9 setting the whole time because the other modes didnt do anything for me. Johns work is top notch and i would recomend his work in a heartbeat.

Re: Spina mods

He did the same for me on the same pedal and it became a very versatile pedal with all the modes. Enjoy it , he does great work.

Re: Spina mods

Excellent and thanks for taking the time to post back to me about your pedals guys! Much appreciated! Enjoy the pedal Brian.

Re: Spina mods

Don't know if it was the last one he did, but John modded a TS-7 for the first time for me. Stock, it was kind of harsh and just sounded digital somehow. The "Hot" switch was like sticking your head in a hive of angry bees. Now the standard setting is great - very much like D.S. described. The kicker for both of us was the "Hot" setting -makes it scream, but in a sweet and usable way.

Thanks again Mr. Spina!

Re: Spina mods

I just inherited a TSDX9 from an old bandmate - apparently non-working. Are you still fixing and modding them? What is the cost?

Re: Spina mods

He comes on here rarely these days, but this thread is 10 years old.

Re: Spina mods

And, I hope Im not speaking out of place for John, but last I spoke to him, he was busy with other things and wasnt doing mods any more.. He did great work tho!!!!

Re: Spina mods

Guess, its quite a compliment to your work tho Bro.... You are still regarded after all these years... I know I still enjoy the one you did for me!

And there you have one of the many reasons John's one of the greatest guys around...

Re: Spina mods

Wow, John..very generous! I didn't realize you lived in NPR, I thought you were further north. We are neighbors.

Re: Spina mods

Thx pal..Appreciate that.Hope you're doing great.

No problem. I'm doing fine. It's been a rough year but it just takes a tiny bit more "effort" to realize how priviledged I am.
Hope you're doing great on your part as well.. Might be time for our "once in a decade" phone call... ;)
