Splawn?

Anyone have any experience with the Quickrod head? Sounds really sweet on their site. Is this the 80's rock amp I have been looking for? Thanks.

Re: Splawn?

Yes it is. I have the Quickrod v2. I find myself sticking to the Plexi mode, which is the lowest gain mode on tap. I play in a 70's/80's rock cover band and it covers quite a bit of territory.

Re: Splawn?

Yes. In my opinion, the QR is the perfect 'stuck in the 80s guy' hard rock/metal head. The plexi channel reeks of early Van Halen. If you're into EVH and Lynch I can't think of a better amp. Really well made, too.

My only criticisms are the weak sounding 50watt setting and the fact that the plexi mode sounds very specifically 'VH' rather than older plexi. It'd be cool if Scott did one with the first mode being an unmodded plexi tone for pre-VH tones.

I think this is in the works. I think it's going to be the "Super Stock" or something along those lines. Something without all the different gain types and that takes to pedals well. Sounds very interesting indeed.

Just bought one, if you are looking for 80's tones, you'll find no better than the Quick Rod.

I like what I'm hearing about the plexi mode changes to a more vintage plexi sound. That has been my only real gripe about the amp.

Cool. I'll ask my mate about it. He's the local Splawn importer, and talks to Scott pretty regularly.
