Split coil - active screw coil

Hi.
I have an Ibanez with a Tone Zone and an Air Norton, wired to a 5-way switch. I’ve seen many guitars where the Air Norton is installed reversed, so I decided to try it myself. I really like the effect it gives on the neck pickup with distortion.

However, position #2 (the inner coils of both humbuckers) sounds a bit worse on clean tones now, because the slug coil is closer to the neck. Is there a way to change the wiring so that in position 2 the screw coil is selected instead of slug?
Is reversing the wiring phase and flipping the magnet the only solution?

There are two things you can do. The simplest would be to rotate the pickup so the slug coil would be next to the bridge. Or you could change the wiring to split to the outside coils instead of the inside coils. I personally like the sound of split to the outside coils much better than inside coils. Without knowing how your guitar is currently wired, I wouldn't be able to tell you what to change to get the screw coils active in split mode.
