I have a Teuffel Tesla guitar with "split coil" pickups. They are like humbucking single coils. When I look at the bottom of the pickup, there are two bobbings/coils - one for the top three strings and one for the bottom three strings - and they are slanted so that the overlap in the middle. I suppose this is to prevent a dead spot when bending strings across the coils. It's kinda like the pickup on the Fender Precision bass, but both coils are contained in one housing and the coils are diagonal. The pickups are dead silent but still retain a single-coil sound.
Has anyone else encountered this type of pickup? Does anyone else make them? I can't image it's that unique of a design.
Just curios.
