When I had a Gibson Minihumbucker, I asked a friend of mine about it. He told me, and I trust his opinion, that a spilt minihumbucker would be a little too thin-sounding. If you took the cover off a Gibson mini, everthing would fall out. That's how they're made. But I have seen pics of them without the cover and they look very similar to a Hot Rails. They're not voiced that way though...

it may be thin but it could be useful (for vintage surf type stuff)
