Split the JB Jr.?

This probably has been discussed to the pulp, but...

Am I better off spliting the JB Jr.? Or should I just leave it as is? "As is" because the JB Jr. has 2 wires (for splitting as I understand it) "sealed" of.

If I decide to split it, is it hard to do?

I cannot seem to find a "lil humbucker, 2 sc, 1 vol, 2 tone, 5-way" schematic on the site.

Thanks!

P.S. Yes, I'm a noob on these stuff. I had just 2 pickup changes/wiring thing ever. I wanna put the JB Jr. in my strat in first before I'll work on getting the Custom/A2P on my LP. (the video of SD replacing pickups was very very helpful. And I will try his way of changing strings)

Re: Split the JB Jr.?

Hi the color code should be the same as the humbucker line, probably the red and white splits it when they are touched to GROUND -- so just take those two wires over to that middle prong (of the three prongs) "on a spliter switch" that when ingauged it grounds them both. being one of the outter prongs of the three are going to ground.

Some folks split the Lil 59 in Teles and it sounds GREAT so the JB should also work well!

Re: Split the JB Jr.?

I did spin a splin in an Am Standart Strat. Works great, the split coil of the HB works with the middle pup. But neverthe less i changed the mid SC with the neck SC to get different in-between sounds. Neck and Bridge SC sounds a lot like a telecaster.

Re: Split the JB Jr.?

I think i'll go with Artie's. It's the least complicated one. I will most probably screw it up, being the noob that I am on this, if I did the spin a split thingy.

Thanks for the replies!

Re: Split the JB Jr.?

By the way, for a 5-way switch, convention is: position #1 for the neck pup and #5 for the bridge pup?
