SPLITTING Old EMGs

I need some input from you EMG experts.
I have an old EMG 81 that has two wires leading to it. One I'm guessing is the power lead.
I just purchased (on hold until 10APR07) a Samick Artist series with HS configuration Active Samick pickups. It has the regular blade toggle and a smaller two way switch that I found out is for splitting the Humbucker.
Will I be able to use the old (pre 92) EMG 81 in the same configuration, or are EMG's like passive pickups where they need to be a 4 lead conductor to do anything like splitting?

Thanks

No. No standard EMG humbucker, old or new, can be split. With the exception of the 89 which is an 85 and an SA in teh same housing ;)

Thanks Zerberus:bigok:
Once I get it (the guitar) home and play it through my amp, if I feel the HB that's in there needs replaced, then maybe I can bypass the switch and wire it directly to to 3 way. Then again...Maybe it might sound OK..........for awhile:fingersx:
