spring reverb bust! any ideas?

hey guys,

seems my dsl401 didnt take that last journey home so well - turning the reverb knob doesn't give me any reverb!

i've opened up the tank itself, but everything looks in order so far - no loose springs or connections.

i've looked at the chassis briefly, same again. if i give the tank a good slap, i still get the 'ping!', but it's very faint.

anyone dealt with this before?

Are those tube driven? If so try another tube. Also make sure all of the leads from the pan to the amp are nice and snug. I would reseat them for good measure. Also look really close at the inside of the pan. You will see some really tiny little wires in there. Make sure they are secure. I would even very gently touch them to see if they just look secure, but only are hanging on by the plastic or something.

Other than that the only thing I can think of could be something inside the amp or possibly the verb pot. The reason I mention the verb pot is because my bro Andrew busted the pot on his reverb when his amp took a fall. The reverb quit working 100% and a new pot fixed it.

Let us know.

sounds like a tube if you can still spank it and make it rattle. also check the wires and make sure all the connections are in place. I'm unfamiliar with your amp model. So, I'm not going to be much more help.

If those tanks get the springs messed up, repair is a hassle. You'd be better off buying a new tank if it gets to that point.

Agreed!!! Those dinky little wires inside can be a pain!!! A new pan is < $50.

If its a new amp reverse the rca leads to reverb tank. When i got my TSL delivered, for some reason the reverb was plugged in backwards.

You could always check the Marshallampforum out to for advice.

Or just take amp back to the shop and get them to fix it.

Re: spring reverb bust! any ideas?

tried reversing the wires, i'll try across joints with a multimeter next..

the reverb on this amp isn't tube powered i think, but i'll check the tubes over anyway

thanks for the suggestions guys! i'll keep you informed!
