Springs direct into the wood. Help

WITH FULL DISTORTION

F. Hails Railsologist
Hey guys.
How are You all?
im having some problems with my Ibanez S7320 regarding pickup height adjustments and the pickup placement into the pickup cavity .

The ****ing guitar came with TWO "BOB" SPONGE inside both pickup cavities and thats to keep the pickup ina considerably good Height. ahahaha for me thats JUST LAME.
the pickup cavity is the Direct into the wood style so doesnt require those Frames and etc.
the pickups are swinguing more than a Salsa dancer on the ****ing guitar cavity and right now im replacing the PAF 7 i have for a Air norton Neck and D activator bridge... so i want to make it right and fix this crappy problem.

Should I use the Springs to fix the pickup in the cavity? i was not using then because it came to me with these sponges and without springs beneath the screws .
now im using it without those ridiculous sponges so.. is there any secret or advice for doing it???
all input and help will be highly appreciated.
Q: )
i can post Photos. ill do it right now and wait till one fo you asks for it.
PLUS.. the dimarzio faggots just pack the pickups with Normal screwt that has the End FLAT instead of Pointy. so i need to buy new screws and hop ethey fit the ****ing pickup holes ahahahahaha what a mess. i hate that ****.

Re: Springs direct into the wood. Help

The all black is the original stock crappy ibanez pickup. it came with the longest and pointy screw but its only compatible with its hole.
the second on the right side is the dimarzio paf . with its shorter and also pointy screw. doesnt go so well
and the last one is the new air norton with the screws still in the package. and SEALED.

Re: Springs direct into the wood. Help

You're going to have to drill your new pickups to accept the direct mount screws bro. There's no way around it. Direct mounting can be a real pain in the butt to get the pickup heights just right. Using rubber surgical tubing is a little more forgiving the stock springs probably will be. Just cut it a little longer than the springs so it compresses a little harder and keeps pressure on the pickups more. They put that foam in there to keep the pickups level and from vibrating. Some people use it, some don't. FWIW, I never put it in and I've always gotten by just fine.

Re: Springs direct into the wood. Help

Yeah, this is why Im trying sooo hard not to get happy with the EMGs in my Wm526 cuz I dont wanna have to do this.
At least I learned that I can use a screw and a nut to use the drilled out pups on pup rings again..

JP, 9finger is correct. Only thing Ill add is if you dont have tubing, you can use a chunk of foam under the pickup body

one more question. with this direct mount to do wood thing.. do i need the springs together with the screws like we do with the frames style mounting or not?
