None that I can hear while playing. Then again, I'm not concerned with a super-low noise floor. I'm not a session/studio cat.

I've got some Schallers going on 25 years old. If they squeak, I put a little WD-40 in the cup on the strap and/or a little chap stick on the button. The clear nail polish trick to keep the nuts tight is what I do too. Had a set on a strap for 10+ years before removing them myself. Never once did they come loose.
I have one set of Dunlops and that's only because they (and a strap) came with the guitar.
For my bass I use a 3" Locks-it trap (http://lockitstraps.com/). Great design. Everything is between the leather pieces and it's flexible. Not one problem.

I've always used Schaller strap locks. A little chapstick solves the squeak on the old models. However, the new S-Locks solve the noise issue and the issue of the old nuts coming loose. Outside of permanently attaching your strap to the guitar, they are the safest and most well designed strap lock on the market.

Are you guys talking about hearing squeaking through the amplifier?
I've been using Schallers for 10+ years, the same strap for all my guitars. I may have had to tighten them once or twice, but I'd just put some Lock-tite on them if it was a real issue.

The issue is the latch on the strap squeaking against the strap button on the guitar.
Not sure lock-tire is gonna help there.
It will work to keep the nut tight on the strap portion of the Shaller though.

Lock-tite isn't good for much aside from helping to ensure threaded things don't come apart. It's definitely a terrible lubricant.
Historically, the Dunlop vs Schaller argument was based on the nut coming loose. More recently, it's been about the squeaking. Something somebody said in this thread made me think people were hearing it through the amplifier.

The squeaking doesn't come through the amp, and you can't hear it at a gig. But hey, it is annoying, and something that should have been solved 20 years ago. The S-Locks solve it, and it just took someone at Schaller to look at the design and change a few things. It is a much better product now.

Might have been me...I’ll have to experiment next time I plug my Strat in (old style Shaller locks). But iirc, higher gain setting will in fact let the noises bleed through.

I use the old Schallers on all of my guitars with never a worry or problem aside from the squeaking which I also solved with just a light application chapstick. As far as the nut coming loose from the strap I take the nut and put it in a pair of pliers (sounds painful, but follow me), then I lightly squeeze it just to get it out of round or concentric, just enough that I cannot spin it on by hand. Youll have to hold the part behind the strap with those pliers as you spin the nut on with a deep well socket, but once its locked down I have no problems ever.
I do have a set of Dunlop but im not too fond of them because they stick out too far, but Im considering recessing the set I do have on my 87 Model-3 because I like that look on David's Bass so I think I know what I'm doing on this rainy day off work.

I switched to Dunlop about 15 years ago and I have to tighten them... well never. I've never had to do anything to them at all. No tightening. No locktite. No nail polish. No buying all new ones because they finally fixed their sucky design.
