Squier Acoustics , Your Opinions Please ?

Hi guys . It's been quite a while since I've been on here. I had to sell all of my gear a few months ago due to financial reasons. So now I'm getting back into playing but this time, I'm going the Acoustic route and no more of the band BS. I had a bad experience with my last band and after over 30 something years of being in bands on a PT basis, I'm done with dealing with egos and drama. Since I'm on a low budget , I went and ordered a Squier SA-100 Acoustic pack which will be coming in today via UPS. Now I know the gig bag that comes with it is crap, which is why I have a new Fender gig bag on order, but other than that, what is your opinion on the Squier SA-100 ? Have any of you out here ever played one , and if so, how is the sound ? Thanks, and I 'm glad to be back !

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, welcome back.
Second, I appreciate the "No more band crap" even as I form a new band! Solo acoustic has a certain control and artistic freedom that is very satisfying.
Third, see first line.

Go hit the Pawn shops. You'll find a MUCH better guitar. Acoustic mail order is a no no. Cheap acoustic is a no no. Cheap acoustic without handling first is a complete and total disaster.

Yeah . . . I'm not trying to rag on your new purchase, but have to agree.

I totally agree with this. I would add use Craigslist as well. I paid only $60-$70 for both of my cheap, fairly beat up Yamaha acoustics, but they'll both kill any Squier acoustic I've played.

If you were to spend the same money you just paid for a new Squier - I'm guessing you paid around $75-$100 - you could find something on Craigslist or maybe a pawn shop that will sound and play WAY better. Cheap acoustics can sound ok, but many sound terrible. I wouldnt buy one w/o trying it out first.

Guys, the pack just arrived over a half hour ago and here's what's up with it. I definitely got my money's worth ( $100.00 ) as far as I'm concerned. The guitar other than needing a slight neck adjustment in order to lower the height, didn't have any flaws at all. No fret edges sticking out, no fret buzz, , scratches, dents, etc. The stock tuners are die cast and not chrome covered which you would normally get for a guitar within this price range. I immediately changed the stock strings which were probably 12's, to a set of D'Addario Acoustic 10's and right away the difference in sound was very noticeable. It also came with a set of Fender 12 guage strings, a electronic tuner, and a P.O.S. gig bag , which I threw out cause I have a new one coming in from E-bay. Seeing that I'm on a tight budget and did take a chance by going the mail order route , I feel that I did indeed hit a home run here. Seeing that these are no longer in production, if you want a acoustic on the cheap , I would recommend these.
