Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

The guitars not bad, but having the output jack on the control plate is kinda weird.

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

also, Avril is married (or engaged) to Derrick Wimbley (lead singer of Sum41) and he has been playing squier for a long time. he probably made them do it.

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

It's just a sales gimmic...don't take it personally. Avril sold out and got her name everywhere and her songs released and her own custom Squier...what are ya, jealous?

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

im jealous, wish i made that much money. Seriously though, whats the big deal? Shes popular, especially with people in the age range and demographic that squire is intended for. It makes perfect sense.

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

It's a cool idea...

From a very naive point of view - there are not enough signature models dedicated to female players... if the models would get more girls to play, it's a good thing.
And like I moved from blues to other styles, girls who would start with crappy pop punk might move to more interesting styles...

Just me thinking out loud...

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

So what if she has her own signature model? If Squire/Fender thinks they can market it to the right crowd and sell it, fine.

FWIW, I think it's kind of cool, pickguard and all. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the input jack on the control plate.

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

Squier = Fender product aimed at a completely different demographic.

Seriously, if somebody who digs Avril Lavigne, Sum 41, or even that skateboarder they made a Showmaster for a few years ago happens to get into playing music because of the name on the guitar, is it really such a bad thing?

considering the type of music they will probably play....then yes, its a horrible thing, lol. nah, in all seriousness i mostly agree with you, getting kids into music is a good thing, gives them something to do if nothing else

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

Ah just give it to her, who cares if she has a sig guitar...it acually looks pretty cool. Those who like her or the guitar will buy it, those who don't and think it and the idea are crap won't. Everyones happy and peace is restore in the guitar universe once again.

+1

I wouldn't buy an Avril CD or a squier guitar so what does it matter to me?

For someone in the right demographic, its probably a dream come true!

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

Hello Kitty got her own guitar, and Avril is much better looking.
Why not??

Its a pretty cool looking design and I bet 99 people out of a hundred wouldn't know it had anything to do with Avril unless they squinted hard enough to read her tiny signature. Bet its already routed for a neck pickup under that guard.

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

At least they were creative with the 3 way. Makes it abit more useable.

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

i wonder if they gave it a narrower, thinner neck for smaller girl hands or maybe even shortened up the scale a bit ... seems to me a smart way to try to chisel some of the market away from daisy rock

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

Tch, Daisy Rock will always be the first place I go for little girl guitars.

Also if I ever join a thrash metal band, you can bet I'll be rockin this:

Except i'd try to find the purple one.

Re: Squier Avril Lavigne Telecaster

Aside from porn, I have zero interest in any product with her name on it.

Part of me finds this offensive to music in general, but the sensible part of me realizes this is just a business trying to make a buck.

Actually, I was surprised to find how many male artists use Daisy Rock stuff. Robert Smith, Adam Levy, Tom Peterson, Chris Stein, Paul Carbonara, Dee Dee Ramone, Three Doors Down, Lou Barlow, etc.
